Experience hunting giant, free ranging bison in the spring of fall near Wood Buffalo National Park in extreme Northern Alberta! Several large native herds have always existed in this remote corner of the province.  At 2600 lbs, these bulls rank as the largest hoofed animals in North America, and second largest in the world after Asiatic water buffalo. This is a potentially extreme, remote, dangerous game type hunts, testing the nerves and persistence of even very experienced hunters. A career species.

Hunts are conducted in short, select spring and fall windows to capitalize on prime conditions. Long days, no biting insects, good frozen access, translate to best opportunity rates for our hunters. Cruise the remote network of logging roads and seismic lines by quad, Argo, or snowmobile in search of Wood Bison herds, often in a 2x2 setup for hunter support and safety. Sitting along an active migratory corridor to encounter bison, or a fresh Bison carcass for wolves, are other effective strategies. It can be a challenge locating the herds in this vast mosaic of stunted forest, meadows and frozen wetlands - but the rewards are worth it.

As a great BONUS, Wolves can also be harvested at no charge, and there are lots of them. Bring a wolf hunting companion along to share the experience. This is a demanding adventure hunt, offered on a very limited basis. Hunters should be experienced and in good physical condition.  A species very much in demand, as there are few other places in North America to hunt native, free-ranging trophy Wood Bison in their natural habitat! They might represent North Americas most iconic yet overlooked big game animal.
