When it comes to adventure, this specific Musk Ox hunt in Canada ranks right near the top. Both for giant trophies and overall northern experience in the vast wilderness of the spectacular Northwest Territories. Hunt with one of Canada’s longest-standing outfitters in the most prime rut window, exploring the Taiga biome in search of what may be the world’s largest Musk Ox. We are talking big, mainland Barren Ground variety from the “Sahtu” region, home of the current world record bulls.
Having personally guided this Musk Ox hunt in Canada’s southwestern Arctic for many years, success rates on big mature bulls have been an honest 100%, with nearly all of our clients taking Musk Ox scoring well above the 105 net B&C record minimums. The tradeoff is limited availability, with only six tags annually in a unit the size of Ohio! Those lucky few will enjoy the lovely early fall Arctic weather, colors, and scenery.
The bugs are done biting, but the fish certainly haven’t! Enjoy bonus opportunities at massive Lake Trout, Arctic Grayling, or special Arctic Char fly-outs (again home to all IGFA world records) from the comfort of an iconic full-service fishing lodge. Incredibly remote and serviced only by aircraft, the lodge is north of the Arctic Circle but offers luxuries and amenities unexpected in such isolated wilderness.
Logistics are simple. Hunters only need to get themselves to Yellowknife, Canada. Charter flights are already included in the Musk Ox Hunting package price, which provides a great opportunity for non-hunting observers or fishing buddies to tag along – on what usually becomes one of life’s great adventures! This is perhaps the only Musk Ox hunt in Canada where clients can drive both their meat and trophy home if desired!
